What is the Political Courage Test?

Texas Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I generally stand on principles of pro-life. I understand there are extreme cases of life or death of the mother and child. I also believe in personal responsibility of individuals to use means to prevent unwanted pregnancy. I also support having greater means for adoption for families who would seek that option.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
I do not support any increase in taxes. I support putting more money back in control of individuals. I support Social Security and Medicare as they are currently. If either needs more funding than balancing a budget is how that gets done, not more taxes. I also support private retirement accounts and phasing out Social Security.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
I believe campaigns should be supported by the voters voting for the candidates. Corporations, Unions and Special Interest groups have far too much influence over our elected officials. Eliminating indirect campaign contributions is one way to start breaking the influence.
No Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
Being in position of a civil servant does not grant any special rights or protections from personal liability. We do not live in a society with two sets of rules and laws. If a crime or misconduct is committed, then the full weight of the law should be given in judgement, not protection.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
Our military and defense has my full support for needs to defend our great nation. However, I do not support endless wars or using our military to police other countries. Bring our men and woman home and protect our countries borders.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
Our country has and is experiencing a tremendous financial strain due to COVID-19. Many businesses which have been open for decades and flourishing are now closed. This is something that should not have happened and I support local businesses to be supported financially by our federal government.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
No. With many friends who work in the education system and three children of my own, I have some insight on this matter. Our current education system is broken and covid has exposed that on a mass scale. Children today do not learn thinking skills. They are taught how to answer a test, not how to solve a problem. As a nation we rank low on education and it should not be that way.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I support the Second Amendment of our Constitution. ?A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.? Shall not be infringed means that no other laws or rules should restrict the Second Amendment.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
No Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
Our Health Care is broken. Elected officials are influence by special interest groups to favor acts which help large pharmaceutical companies. We must actually create something which is "Affordable" for all Americans, yet is not mandatory under threat of penalty.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
I support legal immigration. Our diversity is one thing which makes our country so great. However, when someone is here unlawfully and no means of becoming lawful are sought or desired then they cannot stay here.
No Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
No Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Balancing the budget will be my top priority. After that will be protecting our second amendment rights. Next would be to bring our military men and woman home. I will also pursue ways to ease the adoption process for families who seek that option.
